The Committed Life

by Robert Gresak

Down the ages the centrality of the indwelling spirit has been a large theme in the lives of many spiritually awakened individuals. However, the absolute agelessness of the soul and the monad, the deathless spirit, often creates such a feeling of awe, wonder, and yes, even excitement and emotional upheaval to the extent that often such persons lose sight of that waxing flame as they run about in their eagerness to spread the word.

Of course this is not always the case; many quietly contain the joy of such a momentous discovery, giving thanks and quietly getting on with nurturing and endeavoring to expand that inner contact. And that's naturally how it should be. We gladly nurture that growing flame with our meditations, prayers, invocations and service knowing that all is as it should be, and that greater service and contacts will manifest in the course of time. Of course, impatience does from time to time make itself felt; we are after all, still human and prone to all the weaknesses and faults of our humanness.

But this should be recognized, accepted, and not be a cause for frustration and concern. I recall years ago how often I got frustrated in my continual seemingly non-productive meditative efforts.

But looking back I realize that those efforts were truly productive on a higher, intangible level, it was just that I was not then sufficiently aware of this. As the Great Ones teach, nothing spiritually done in thought, from the heart, or vocalized is ever for nothing. Every effort in our inner striving is noted by the Masters and in this is great joy. Of course, it would be lovely to receive confirmation of this, but sometimes this is not done for reasons known only to them in their wisdom. At other times, and with other souls this confirmation is given and with those who are inspirational channels, telepathic or highly clairvoyant, this contact is always constant. Thus confirmation is unnecessary.

It would be wonderful if we 'average' seekers (I don't mean this disparagingly) could also have this constant communication, but as mentioned above, there are reasons why this cannot be so. Of course in the eyes of the Masters no one is 'average', but all are equally important and loved unconditionally. I use the term simply as a means of distinguishing between the groupings of seekers.

It must be said that not all who walk the inner way are amenable solely to meditation or have the time to meditate, but find their spiritual niche and joy in unconditional outer service coupled with prayer. This is as it should be; wherever and however we find our spiritual niche, the Masters utilize all us seekers in the best possible way asking only that we serve in love and humbleness and are unflagging in our work. Naturally they recognize that we do tire and indeed fall by the wayside, but that we pick ourselves up, renew our energies, spiritual and physical, and rededicate ourselves anew to the great task. Let us rededicate ourselves to:

'That Life in stone and star radiating its deathless flame
and reverberating its holy name;
that sighs in the cool breeze
and whispers of hidden mysteries,
whispers in the swaying trees.

That Life existing from the greatest heights
to the profoundest deeps
which throbs and leaps,
which is cosmic fire and electricity,
absolute love and uttermost purity.'

Robert Gresak was led at age 19 to meet an inspirational medium who became his spiritual mother and mentor. He became a member of her group and came in touch with the Masters of the Great White Brotherhood and their teachings. Since her passing over to higher service in the late '80s his spiritual gifts have tended towards article writing, a major portion of which of which lies in inspirational poetry.
In Robert's own words, "I do get the strong feeling at times that becoming a speaker as well lies ahead of me soon. I also hope soon to pursue further a book manuscript 'The Art of Living' which I started a few years back."
Robert lives in South Africa.
