Mystified by Truth

I heard the whisper of an angel
in the cold dark of night
in a time of despair
Elements of nature
hushed my mind and opened my heart

Stepping out into the evening air
I have sought out the light
Mystified by the truth
I succumbed to the stars
and surrendered my forsaken soul

Granted this one whimsical moment
I took heed to her words
be gentle, kind, be true
for your life’s transgressions
have been reprieved by your own conscious pain

In an instant, I was left alone
to face another day
Mystified by truth
But now self aware and
Confident in the break of dawn's new light
