The Poem

Unrestrained by words
Bird soaring in an endless sky
Linear time bowing to timelessness
It comes unbidden and irresistible.

A feeling, a thought, an image
Is engine to its inevitability.
It proceeds in spite of its self
Taking up no space at all.

“Facts” cannot make it falter.
It flies from start to start.
Created on the road to matter’s death
the poem
the deathless one
the deathless Heart
comes
because it must
and cries
in boundless joy
“come fly with Me”.

Frank Cavano is a retired physician who writes poetry when moved by powerful feelings, thoughts or images. As he describes it, "Most of what I have written seems to fit in the metaphysical/spiritual/inspirational category."

Frank currently lives in Bluffton, SC with his wife of 44 years, Carol. His sons and their wives have blessed the couple with four granddaughters and a grandson who are the light of their lives.
