There are many meditative disciplines practiced both within and outside of religious contexts. Some focus on greater awareness, others on deeper concentration or a more peaceful state of mind. Meditative techniques have been so successful at achieving these goals, they have been practiced since antiquity.

Through meditation we can bypass our ego-selves and reach significantly higher states of consciousness and be-ing.
