A Personal Account of the Amazing Healing Power of EFT

by Marc Sullivan

Not long ago I went through a seven-year period where I was beset with major dental issues. Interestingly, this time frame corresponded with a period of very rapid spiritual growth. Lurking in the background, however, were unconscious roadblocks to energy flow that I hadn't yet learned to address. Since physical problems are a result of blocked energy the timing of these problems made perfect sense. My energy wanted to get cranking due to the personal advancements, and pushed so hard against the blockages that the situation had to manifest itself physically. As a result I had root canals, crowns, extractions, implants and periodontal surgery. During that time I felt blessed if I only needed a filling.

I needed so much work that I negotiated costs with my dentist. A substantial discount if I paid for many thousands of dollars of dental work in advance. It was a very painful time for both my mouth and my bank account.

Finally things subsided and over two years went by with no problems. Then, about nine months ago, I could feel that familiar pain starting up and localized to a particular tooth that hadn't had any “work” yet. Within a couple days it was getting pretty bad.

I was broke. No money to see a dentist. No money for a prescription of antibiotics. No money at all. Under those circumstances this was not a good position to be in. The tooth was sensitive when pushed on, and the gum above the tooth was even more sensitive and swelled with infection. Knowing where this was going, I hit the internet in search of methods for pain relief, and wound up on a web page listing various things you can do to alleviate dental pain. The author mentioned he’d read that EFT was effective, but had no personal experience with it. He did, however, link to a page where someone else detailed their experience.

Emotional Freedom Techniques are predicated on the knowledge that physical maladies result from blockages in the body’s energy meridians, the pathways through which our energy flows. I use the term “knowledge” ― rather than “theory” ― because to me as a metaphysician, i.e. someone who studies the underlying nature of reality, this is fact and not theory. My own experience points to this fact.

EFT is similar to acupuncture in that it utilizes the acupressure points along the energy meridians. Rather than using needles, EFT uses simple tapping with the fingertips on specific points while verbalizing “setup” and affirmation statements.

I read the account of the person who had used EFT for a tooth so severely abscessed he could literally wiggle it around. I’d been through that very same loose-tooth scenario few years before, and in my case it culminated in an emergency extraction. The author of the account claimed he’d completely healed the tooth using EFT. I had never heard of eliminating an infection without antibiotics; it was out of my experience.

Being of an open mind and having nothing to lose by trying it, I did a quick familiarization with the basic EFT technique. Next I did two “rounds” of tapping, with setup and affirmation statements as I went. It all took less than five minutes.

The next day the pain had noticeably lessened. Knowing I was really on to something, I did another round of tapping. During this round I had an intuitive “hit” on the emotional root of the blockage and knew to tapacuman on that, too. So I tapped one round on the root factor and one more on the pain. For the pain I used affirmations like, “My body transmutes infected tissue into healthy tissue.”

By that afternoon the pain was gone. Yes, gone. My gum was still a little swollen and tender, so I knew the infection was still there. However I did no more EFT. Confident that the technique would work if the infection worsened again, I instead chose to monitor the results. Within a few days there was no noticeable sign of the infection remaining. Nine months later it has not returned.

Different conditions of course require more or less tapping. People have eliminated headaches, for example, with one round. Severe conditions require more rounds, sometimes many more, and it’s always recommended you consult a health care professional about any severe condition you may have.

I was struck by the effectiveness of this technique. In fact, I was blown away by it. I have so much experience with dental issues and this is the only time in my experience that a dental problem has improved without a trip or two to the dentist, at a minimum. It is the only time I have healed an infection without the use of antibiotics.

Am I convinced EFT works? Absolutely. I am really impressed with the results of this technique.

Here's a link to an article on the EFT web site by a mother whose young son's cavities healed through the use of EFT.

EFT has been shown to be highly effective in the treatment of phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, numerous psychological issues and a host of physical ailments.
